Boat of Garten
Just one mile away from the cottages, this popular village is home to a good local shop, Post Office, hotel/bar and restaurants. Here you will also find the Strathspey Railway, Loch Garten, and the RSPB nature reserve where ospreys can be viewed. Boat of Garten has bicycle hire shops and many cycle and walking tracks locally. It also has tennis courts, a golf course, and fishing on the River Spey for outdoor enthusiasts.

Aviemore
Just five miles away, this town is your link to the main rail network, connecting you to London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness. Although it is a small village, its proximity to Cairngorms National Park and the range of outdoor activities that attract visitors to the Highlands make it an ideal spot. There is a wide range of shopping, dining, and pubs to enjoy in this village in between hiking, cycling, hillwalking and skiing.

Cairngorms National Park
Within close proximity is the Cairngorms National Park, home to the Cairngorm Mountains, which offer hill walking, climbing, and winter skiing. In 2011, it was selected by National Geographic Magazine as one of the top 20 places in the world to visit because of the breathtaking scenery and wide range of wildlife. Among the activities you can do here, there is mountain biking, canoeing, walking, horse-riding, sailing, winter skiing and snowboarding, golf, clay pigeon shooting, orienteering, wildlife and birdwatching, swimming, white water rafting, archery and fishing.
