Busy Summer

The cottages have had a busy summer with both cottages booked for most weeks other than the odd one. Guests have arrived from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Denmark and the States as well as from all parts of the UK. The weather although very Scottish has not been a bar to exploring the Highlands and the guest book is always interesting to read with details of the journeys made around the Highlands and Islands.

The Strathspey Railway as always has been popular.Cycling, hill walking and retail therapy have also featured on a regular basis. A visit to Loch Garten to see the Osprey chicks has been a popular excursion. There were 3 chicks this year, one died but the other 2 thrived, were named ALBA and CALEDONIA by the local school children and left end of August to sunnier climes. ALBA made the news as 2 weeks after leaving , had arrived in Senegal without any major stops on route. It was the fastest recorded journey by any Osprey chick since tagging started several years ago. Caledonia decided to take in Gibralter on the journey and appears to enjoy sight seeing on route! The wild life park at Kincraig also is a favourite as is Landmark at Carrbridge. The garden continues to be home to several red squirrels who enjoy the nuts and seeds put out and in turn provide excellent entertainment especially in front of the living room in Ptarmigan. Autumn certainly has now arrived and the tops of the Cairngorms have been white ,a reminder that winter will soon be upon us. The availability and prices for 2013 are now on the web site and on that note a word of thanks to all the guests so far this year and I hope to see you again in the not too distant future. Jim
